Kinhouse is built to keep family life organized, calm, and private. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how it is processed, and your rights regarding your data.
1. Adult Account Holders & Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Account creation is strictly restricted to adults aged 18 and older. Minors are not permitted to register user accounts or manage billing.
Children do not have independent user accounts. Any child profiles, chores, or reminders within a household are parent-managed profiles created and controlled entirely by adult household members. We do not solicit personal contact information, email addresses, or phone numbers from children.
2. Information We Collect
- Account Information: Your email address and authentication credentials (managed via Supabase Auth).
- Household Data: Household name, member display names/first names, avatars, chores, meals, groceries, events, and family messages.
- Device & Notification Data: Native push tokens (Google Firebase Cloud Messaging / Web Push) used exclusively to deliver household reminders, chores, and message notifications.
- Calendar Feeds & Display Tokens: Ephemeral or revocable calendar links and shared display links generated at your request.
3. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Disclosure
Kinhouse offers opt-in AI features, such as the morning debrief, meal suggestions, and chore planning. When you invoke these features:
- We send only necessary contextual fields (such as first names, scheduled chores, and meal titles) to our AI processing provider (OpenAI / OpenAI-compatible API).
- Full names, email addresses, account passwords, and user IDs are never sent to AI providers.
- Prompts and model outputs are treated as untrusted text for ephemeral display only. User data is not used to train public foundation models.
4. Third-Party Service Processors
We work with trusted infrastructure providers to operate Kinhouse:
- Supabase: Database hosting, user authentication, and secure encrypted file storage.
- Netlify: Application hosting, CDN, and backend API functions.
- RevenueCat, Google Play Store: In-app subscription billing and receipt validation.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) & Web Push: Push notification delivery to your family devices.
- OpenAI / AI Service Provider: Generation of morning debriefs and household suggestions.
5. Data Retention & Account Deletion
Your data is stored for as long as your account remains active. You may delete your account and all associated personal data at any time directly in the app (under Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account) or via our public deletion page at /delete-account.
Upon deletion, all solely-owned households, authored messages, chore history, and uploaded recipe photos in storage are purged. In shared households, parent-managed profiles may be retained by the remaining co-owners until the household itself is deleted.
